Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions people ask most before seeing a financial adviser, from what it costs and what happens in the first meeting to how we’re licensed. If your question isn’t here, call Rory on 02 8556 8605 or send a message.

Fees and getting started

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Nothing formal. A rough idea of your income, what you own and owe, your super balances and what you would like to change is plenty. We collect the detail together later if we decide to work together.

How much does it cost to see a financial adviser?

Your first conversation is free. If we work together, we quote a fixed fee for your Statement of Advice before any work starts, and ongoing advice is a fixed annual fee, agreed in writing. See our fees page for the detail.

What happens in the first meeting?

We talk through your goals, your current setup and whether we’re the right fit. There’s no pressure and no pitch. If we go ahead, we prepare a Statement of Advice before anything is put in place.

Is it worth seeing a financial adviser if I’m not wealthy yet?

Yes. Most of our clients come to us while they are still building. The earlier you have a plan for cash flow, debt and investing, the more time it has to work.

Who do you work with?

Families and professionals who earn good money but feel they aren’t getting ahead, people who want to replace their salary with passive income, and people preparing for retirement. Most clients live in the Sutherland Shire; we also work with clients further afield by video.

Advice we give

Do I have to sign up for ongoing advice?

Advice is designed to be ongoing because your life keeps changing, and that is where most of the value comes from. Any ongoing arrangement is agreed in writing, reviewed each year, and you can end it at any time.

Can you help with property investment?

Wording to be approved by Spark: we help you work out how property fits your overall plan, including borrowing capacity, cash flow and structure, alongside super and other investments.

Can we meet by video instead of coming in?

Yes. Plenty of clients meet Rory by video, especially busy parents. Everything can be done remotely, and you are welcome at the Cronulla office whenever you prefer.

Do you give advice on super and retirement?

Yes. We help with contributions, consolidating super, transition-to-retirement strategies and planning the income you will live on in retirement.

Let’s start with a conversation.

We’ll chat through your goals, your current setup and whether we’re the right fit. No pressure, no pitch.
